Computers for Youth works directly with public schools to improve the home learning environment of their students.

We begin our

Take IT Home

program with students in the sixth grade—the earliest grade in middle school—and expand it to more senior grades in subsequent years.

CFY uses an application and interview process to select schools that have the following characteristics:
  • Strong leadership and a motivated, enthusiastic staff
  • Commitment to connecting students' in-school and at-home learning and to increasing parent/family involvement
  • 75% or more students eligible for federally subsidized lunch
  • Resources available to support the project

Each spring, CFY selects new Take IT Home schools to be served the following academic year. If you would like to request an application for the '09-'10 school year, please send your school name, address and the principal’s email address to one of the CFY email addresses listed below. We will contact you regarding your application in the spring of 2009.

*IMPORTANT NOTE:

CFY-New York City is currently at capacity for our Take IT Home program and will not be accepting applications for the 2009-2010 school year. Please check back in 2010 for information about the following school year.
